The Past & Future of M at Bavaria BMW

Bavaria BMW features many truly classic BMW vehicles as well as some of the most futuristic BMW models available in the market. The M series in particular has quite the history, as you might be aware, and we’d like to show you just how much this history is a part of ours here at Bavaria BMW. Let’s take a look at the M series vehicles we’ve featured here at Bavaria BMW:

The 2016 M4 GTS

We recently got in one of these beasts. Only 700 units of the 2016 M4 GTS were released, and we were lucky enough to get our hands on one of them.

Let’s look at the numbers here. A hefty 5.0-litre tank mounted under the trunk and the 3.0-litre, water-injected, twin-turbo, inline-six gave this sportscar the capability of 493 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. You’ve got a top speed of 190 mph, 1.4 g’s of grip, and a sprint from 0-60 in 3.5 seconds.

The Porsche Carrera GT, McLaren MP4-12C, and Ferrari 458 Italia couldn’t measure up at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya racetrack in Spain. The GTS ran 7:27.88 in a continuous loop, and the driver made a couple mistakes that likely cut half a second off an even better time than that. The aforementioned 3 mid-engine supercars were expected by many to outperform the GTS, a car that began its life as a 3 Series. But no, the 2016 BMW M4 GTS took the win and from then on, it was a legend.

The 2013 M3 Coupe Fire Orange Limited Edition

July 9, 2013 is the date the first BMW M3 Coupe drove off the production line in Regensburg. This particular Limited Edition was painted a beautiful, bright, fire orange just as iconic as the vehicle itself.

When it first launched in 1986, the BMW M3 received massive praise from drivers and reviewers–and even from its competitors. Today, driving enthusiasts will tell you the M3 was a true master of all trades, giving them both track-day fun and long-distance practicality.

2013 was a strange year for BMW because it marked the end of a chapter in the car’s history. But we’ll always remember its performance–0-60 mph in a mere 4.8 seconds for the coupe–and it never really did show its age, which we believe is the mark of a true legend. And the advent of the 4.0-litre V-8-powered M3, with its 414-horsepower, is a thing of beauty. The 2013 BMW M3 Coupe’s screaming high-rev sound, unparalleled responsiveness, and ample power are spoken of in legends, and we were proud to be a part of that legend here at Bavaria BMW.
